Hello, and welcome to the Get a Six-Figure Job You Love and Drive podcast. This is episode 247, A Cross-Continental Success Story. It’s a spotlight with my client, Immaculate Tushabe.

Hey there, I’m Natalie Fisher. I’m a six-figure business builder, a mom of a two-year-old, the recoverer of a 10-year narcissistic relationship, and now in a super healthy one. And most of all, I’m a human who’s figuring this out with you. This podcast is about how to use your mind to thrive in your career and create the subconscious breakthroughs that you need to get there. The subconscious blocks that you don’t even know you have to achieving your highest levels of earning and your best zone of genius moments and days in the flow. That is my goal for you.

Let’s dive into the episode. And before we dive into today’s episode, I want to remind you that I’m the coach who is always going to point you back in the direction of your own wisdom. And so before we get started, I want to remind you, listen to your own wisdom first. This means listen to yourself first and me second and anyone else for that matter. Take what resonates and throw away what doesn’t unapologetically. I won’t be mad.

I won’t be offended. In fact, I will be proud of you for doing so because I know from a lot of personal experience that anything is only as effective as the amount of resonance that it has within your uniquely built brain. And something is only going to work if it feels right to you and if you believe in it or if you want to do the work to believe in it.

And that’s what I’m here to help you do. Your inner wisdom is infinitely more valuable than mine when it comes to getting your outcomes and for what you are here to do on this planet. So I’m here to help you steer that wisdom in the most powerful way possible. I’m so happy you’re here. I’m so glad you’re here part of this. I’m so glad we’re here on the planet at the same time. Let’s dive into today’s episode.

What I wanted to say about this interview that I did was that Immaculate has really nailed the mindset of a successful person. She’s overcome a ton of challenges and her mindset is really what I want you to be listening to throughout the interview.

So things that she didn’t let stop her, like she just said the coaching calls are in the middle of the night for me but I don’t care. I know it’s what I need so I’m just going to stay up and watch them stay up and participate. Things like moving from one country to another where she didn’t have a job right and making that happen for herself and just really moving past all these things that a lot of people just will never move past because they haven’t adopted the mindset that is as simple as I can, I’m infinitely capable, this is possible for me and stuck with it right because it’s easy to have that mindset for a little bit but when you start to stand up to tests of reality it’s harder to keep that mindset and she was able to do that and that’s why I know that anything else she’s going to do will ultimately end up a success because she’s already solidified that mindset within herself and she has that capability.

So listen to that as you listen to the interview and see how you might have some work to do in that area where you’re letting these tests of reality like things not working out or something not happening and you letting that like lower your belief instead of maintaining that belief throughout until it becomes a reality for you. So this is a great example of I love busting these beliefs of like oh yeah but you know it’s easy for you because this or it’s easy for you because of this and it’s like Immaculate had everything against her right time zone difference country difference all these things that she could have just said yeah well I can’t do it because of that right she could have just said yeah well it’s just not going to be for me because of this isn’t this but instead she didn’t and you’ll hear like there’s some really good golden nuggets in this interview so I want you to listen carefully for that and just think okay if my mindset was that of a successful person and I was facing these obstacles how would a successful person think versus how I’m thinking and without further ado here’s the interview. Hello hello welcome everyone I’m here with a special guest today one of my amazing clients her name is Immaculate Tushabe and we’re going to start by talking about her journey she has quite an amazing journey to share.

Immaculate why don’t you go ahead and introduce yourself and tell us anything you’d like everyone to know. Yeah so well my name is Immaculate Tushabe I currently work in New York with the UN and I’m an associate political affairs officer and it’s amazing to be you know here with you today and discussing my journey so just to put this out of the way I come from Uganda and I’ve been really struggling to you know put my career in perspective and have it you know going to the right direction I hoped you know what I wanted for myself you know in life so in 2018 after graduation I started looking out for jobs you know in Uganda there is not so much that you know a young graduate can do it’s even very difficult to get to internships.

So I looked for so many internships and I could hardly find any so I was I realized that I wasn’t getting any internships I was not even getting any jobs I wanted to know what the root cause was and so I started trying to trick my resume I tried to watch YouTube videos and also start preparing myself for interviews right so I come from a university or a place where as graduates we are not well taught how to write cover letters or CVs and how to position yourself for the job market so being very ambitious and when I was trying to you know dig through the internet and try to find what what I was fading at I landed on some websites UK universities.com so as navigate as going through as looking at universities in the UK what are they doing how are their career service sites and I was learning how to you know position myself learning how to tailor my CV and ensuring that when someone picks it up someone would be able to want to read it.

So as I did that then I also would make sure I like went on YouTube to reinforce my knowledge because I found that it was a very easy way of learning and mind you that’s not so much you know YouTube consumes a lot of data and from my place it was like literally you know so hard to come by and once I found the people that really spoke to me when I found Natalie’s videos I really signed up and so she had this booklet that she had in she had put if some competency-based questions and I realized those were some of the questions that were really you know sticking out and these were the questions they were asking on interviews and once I learned that she had was sharing this I was free so I was like I’m jumping on this so I literally took it on and if I knew it I had like should try to craft my answers to how she was doing has in the booklet and now I started to receive interviews and I started to get feedback yeah someone would respond amazing wow I’m so glad you have that to that you remember all that you have that to share with us.

So you’re from Uganda and now you’re in New York so I’m like I want to hear all about everything that happened in between so you were so you kind of told us how you got started you started to get interviews how did you find interviewing in like for positions in New York what were you interviewing while you were in Uganda for positions in New York or did you go to New York first so I was interviewing so after that I got a job finally because there’s a time when you were doing the free when you would send us links to join you and understand how you’re coaching for me it was so expensive and it was about three thousand and I felt like I wasn’t even earning three thousand I wasn’t even earning a hundred dollars so I thought I thought what I told when I had a discussion with my parents because I always told them how difficult the job search was and I’m like there is this lady who coaches people and and I’m like it’s quite expensive but I feel like if I really did have the money I’d really invest in it right.

So I would join these coaching sessions in the late night in Uganda it would be around midnight so I would hope on them and then I would get coached and so I guess I think I gained confidence so so much confidence from those free coaching sessions that naturally you know you had and so I continued applying for positions and fortunately there was a time when I had to after two years of doing that I had I got a scholarship to study abroad so I went to Korea I was there for two years. Oh you went to Korea I didn’t know that I also wanted to point out something though because you said you would like stay up at midnight to get the coaching or to get what was available for free and I was like a lot of people will just say oh well I can’t attend that because it’s in the middle of the night but you were like no I’m just going to be up yeah just shows that commitment of like why you’re succeeding now right like you’re just really committed I just want to point that out because I know a lot of people would they just say oh yeah I can’t come and it’s like okay well you can watch the replay but you were like no I’m gonna make a priority to show up.

Yeah I tried to make sure that when this class because I mean the time difference is quite big you know so I mean and I was I really needed to succeed right I see my friends succeeding yeah I felt left out you know with life people had progressed my friends had kind of like dwindled because my friendships had gone really down because first of all you are the only person in the friend group who is unemployed you’re the person whose life is not progressing so honestly at that point I was very desperate so I mean I would really do anything every time I got like a session when you advertise those free sessions I was like you know what it’s my opportunity to hop on it because your videos were widely viewed so I was like why not if you could get the opportunity so later on I went to Korea and I did my master’s and so that’s where I got a few friends that told me about the positions in New York and I kind of felt like okay that is way way way to be on my punching you know my punching line so I didn’t think that I would get to New York but some part of me was very crazy it’s like you know what just try you never know you know you never know you never know what could come up.

So you were in Korea doing this internship and you had made friends there and they suggested someone suggested to you oh there’s some opportunity in New York why don’t you go for it that’s basically what happened? Yes so I was in Korea I was going from I was doing my master’s by then and then you know when you’re having coffees with colleagues and they tell you oh you know you know there are positions in New York that you could apply for it was never something I thought I could do yeah and I even thought it was like way to be on me I was like you know what you’re very ambitious but I think this is this is cool. Yeah so when you first heard that what were your your thought was initially like oh I don’t like what was your thought process when you first heard that idea? When I first had that idea it’s like I don’t think a girl from Uganda would would go to New York because look.

To work for the UN nonetheless. Because I felt like New York was way because I saw it in the movies I said it is in geography yeah yeah yeah when you hear that I could hardly draw the map of New York I could even talk about the five boroughs or whatever you know it was they sounded like you know even when you realize even when there is this song about New York and I’m like yeah we’re having all this thing I’m like no way it’s beyond me but then another part of me was like the crazy part of me was like why why don’t you try you know yeah back to Uganda I trained I think I had I applied for about seven positions and I think three of them are New York and if two of them are like in Africa Egypt and Mozambique and so I didn’t get my first I got because I had now trained myself to really write because of so many I’d seen so many cover letters I had seen so many CVs so I knew what to do because I had a whole folder of like CVs from Harvard CVs from Georgetown CVs from yeah like I had a good collection and I started to realize what was the common factor in this so I could tailor my CV to any job description that you presented to hear that confidence in your voice you’re like I did all this right.

I could I knew what they needed to hear yeah yeah so I could put whatever they wanted to hear if like I would get all those keywords and make sure they’re in my CV and then I would get to interviews right so but then when it would come to interviews I would have this self-sabotage I’m like you know what I don’t think you’ll go through I don’t think this is for you I don’t think you’ll be able to manage you don’t I don’t think you know all that normal chatter that we all get yeah and how did you deal with that and uh so I would tell myself you know what so once it was one day you know that New York and Uganda times difference is so big in the morning I wake up to this email D.I. Makile Toshabe we are happy to tell you that you’ve been you know you’ve been um selected funny for you’ve been selected for an interview I’m like ah me I don’t think so I am quite shocked and I’m like okay you know now it’s time to actually you know prove yourself right and so I go back to your material I read through it and now because of the material you were providing you you kind of zeroed down on how to to start to prepare for interviews and how to anticipate certain questions because I realized that one of the reasons.

I was not really getting past the interview stage was I didn’t do adequate preparation I did very good preparation for the application but when it came to the to the whole interview phase I did not adequately prepare right and so whenever I went to the interviews I when I was asked questions I literally like blacked out like I zoned out like I could not you know really respond well and for someone who had really really written a good cover and also to note though that and and like you also were doing the interviews in English right and that’s not your first language or did you learn English at the same time or no I mean we study English from when we about five okay yeah because I’m like that’s an additional thing right like it’s not even your language you’re doing these interviews like you’re just doing all these brand new things right and you’re just figuring it out as you go and like as you’re talking I can see you’re like okay I could see that.

I wasn’t doing this so I started doing this I started tweaking this even like when I saw what wasn’t working I kept like this is just the mindset of a successful person so I want to point that out to everyone and so I kept you know now this time I’m you know trying to prepare so when the time when I received this email I was like you know what it’s time to prepare and then I also had a fear that I could not you know I because it was an opportunity I don’t think I could you know postpone but this time I was in my own skin and I’m like you know what you’ve given me three days to prepare for the interview I don’t think I’m you know I’m ready in the three days so could we please reschedule the interview to this time which I didn’t think it would happen and it actually happened so I’m able to have more time and then I adequately prepared and so once I prepared you know I did the interview and unfortunately I didn’t get it right and so when I didn’t get it so one of the interviewers sent me an email it’s like if you need feedback and trust me Natalie I was so heartbroken.

I was really heartbroken I remember I kept checking my phone like did they respond like it was like I had really centered my life around this thing I was like always checking how they responded when do you think they’re going to respond all that you know I was literally always over double like always totally normal response yeah I was like very anxious so unfortunately I don’t get it and he he’s when they send me the email they reach out to me and it’s like oh if you need to get some feedback I’m like why not so I’m like I need to ask him for feedback I remember this guy was called Chris and I’m like okay Chris I really want to know why what I didn’t do well I want to know why I didn’t really get to pass the you know the competency-based interviewing what can I do oh what can I do I was I think it was a very hard thing for me to do because I recall thinking to myself I’m like I sat there with this gentleman telling me all the things I wasn’t good at it was like a yeah but you know what’s interesting though is people would like beg to get feedback and they don’t get it and it’s because me working in HR most of the time people don’t respond well to it but like it says a lot about you that someone felt comfortable giving you uncomfortable feedback like they felt like you were going to receive it well and because not everyone gets that right yeah.

So but anyways yeah go on it was very difficult you know what kind of feedback did they give you no because he was actually very good he said oh you know we had a candidate some of the questions you really didn’t answer them well and would expect this is the kind of method would really expect you to do on this he particularly mentioned that on some question I had like literally um spoken so much to the background than the actual action I took and the results that came out and the learning so he’s like you know when you have these interviews make sure that when you structure your your response make sure you structure it in a way that you show what you actually actual results yeah yeah that’s a piece of feedback that I give people a lot too because they it’s very common so yeah it’s really helpful to hear that you got that from an actual hiring manager too because I tell people this all the time but they like seeing like yes this is a reason why people don’t move forward is because they’re not talking about the results enough so what did you think when you got this feedback what were you what was your thought process.

I was honestly the grown-up person in me and the person who likes to push on and I think at that point that person in me was was very little was was that small voice in me saying this is good for you and the other person the bigger person was saying that hurts that hurts so much hearing it hurts so much it’s like you’re dating someone and someone tells you you know what you’re not good for me and the reason why you’re not good for me is abc and it hurts it hurts that you’re not being the person that is chosen right yeah and all you want to do is just you know throw a blanket over it and you know just hide in your bed and just yeah yeah totally you know so so but it’s so intuitive to see the two parts of you right the part that’s like yes I’m human and this sucks and it hurts and then the part of you that’s like this is good for me to know and I remember this gentleman telling me he’s like Immaculate you’re really going to go far oh with this kind of attitude yeah and so how did you respond to his feedback that because I think that’s really important too.

So when I received his feedback I noted it down and I’m like I’m going to really work to take my time and really walk through it and he also offered to help me prepare for another interview oh wow yeah so before I knew it I got another one wow of course so you is that what you said to him directly when he gave you the feedback you said I’m going to work through this yes I told him oh you know what I’m going to walk through it I’m going to make sure that everything you know you you shared with me I applied to the next interview and then to just make myself better because this is the space I really want to be in and having an interview there shows that I have actually the capacity to be there and so yeah I’m really going to work on this and make sure at the time the next time I come I get an interview I show up better yeah and this is a pattern like the pattern that you’ve expressed since the beginning of this interview is you know I wasn’t getting the responses this wasn’t working.

So then I went and researched all these resumes cover letters I had read so many of them I knew what a good one looked like I was getting the applications through then I started to get interviews right and it’s like you worked on it right so the first part it wasn’t working and then you started working on it this is maybe a bit more difficult for the ego because you were actually being told like directly but before it was you weren’t getting a result right and then you tweaked and changed and made sure you were going to get this result to actually get the interviews so it’s like it’s just the same pattern that you’re moving through to get success every time just at different levels right yes so okay continue on and uh so before I knew it I got another interview and this time.

I reached out to him you know saying okay you know I received another interview and I would like to you know prepare with you if you’re available if you have the time unfortunately he was also relocating so he wasn’t able to assist me at that moment but he said I know you will be able to make it if you really did incorporate what I told you the feedback that I you know I gave you you should be able to you know get better at it and I’m like okay thanks for the vote of confidence I think I should be able to do it right so I did the interview that was around June 2022 in July 2022 I received the the offer and naturally so I still remember it like it was yesterday yeah I must have walked about three kilometers because it was so surreal I just couldn’t believe it I couldn’t believe that I was I was going to New York it was out of this world.

I walked I could barely understand or even think that I was even tired I don’t even know for how long I was like oh my god I did it oh my god so every time I told my friends and my friends were like oh New York New York babes you’re going I’m like yes and they’re like oh my god they could really see that it was well deserved because I was always a person who was pushing you know pushing against odds even when things weren’t in my favor yeah exactly yeah so I just always try to you know make things work so uh fast forward I come to New York and I start my job it’s quite amazing New York is is amazing I’m trying I’m culturally shocked I am at the job I’m actually also as well you know shocked with the kind of work I’m doing but it’s amazing it is it’s transformative work and then I realize okay you know you’re here now so what next you know yeah you did it you did it you know and it’s like you achieved the impossible once so that’s just setting the stage for the rest of what’s coming so I’m thinking to myself okay you’ve done this right.

Now as being human when you get to a point where you get comfortable you don’t want to return to a place where you were very uncomfortable no you look at the time you would wake up to go for these calls at in the middle of the night but you know because you’re desperate it’s easy for your brain to want to put you in a certain position yeah but when you’re comfortable it’s very difficult for you to be able to move yourself from one level to another and I think that’s what happened to me because it was the job I got was always what I wanted to be and then you’re like okay well I’ve achieved success now I’m done yeah I’m here yeah what do I need to do I got here and then I forgot that it takes again almost an equal amount of effort or even more to keep you there and here’s what I can offer you for this you expand your capacity because you create this great result and yes you’re going to keep challenging yourself and I think we talked about this in our coaching session it was like yes you’re going to keep challenging yourself but if you didn’t if the alternative was just to like rest and then do nothing then you wouldn’t be happy doing that because you you like that challenge even though it’s challenging right yes.

So yeah so tell us um anything you want to share about about where you’re at now because you’ve been there for a little while now and yeah is there anything you want to share like what surprised you about it or anything fun you want to share yes I mean uh in terms of my work I felt like uh I needed to do more to keep me here because I liked it and then but then every time I thought about the thought of doing more to keep me here in terms of applying in terms of you know getting myself you know in a bit in a higher position or even a promotion became very daunting and I didn’t want to go back to why it was before it’s only to keep progressing but then now it seemed very impossible and very difficult and then I thought okay now am I able to afford to go to the trainings to the coaching session and why not so because I believe that at this point I needed some help some help to be able to push me in the right direction.

I needed it back then but I could never afford it but now I could be able to afford it and why not you know us have the help along the way because sometimes we really need the push we really need uh someone else to see us for who we are and push us in the direction that we need to be in because at a certain point you can do it for yourself yeah and you’ve done that you’ve sought out mentors you’ve asked for the you’ve taken the feedback you’ve done and like you you’ve consistently looked for that even though it was uncomfortable sometimes so yeah and this is another really smart move right like I’m not going to let myself get comfortable I’m going to sign up for a coaching program now that I can afford it and I’m going to make sure that I don’t move backwards I’m like you you set yourself up for success really well it’s something that you’ve always done

I said I’m going to join Natalie’s sessions. I had attended, even when I was in New York, I attended a few training sessions that were free. And I think I like, I like the dynamic. And I think what appeals to me or what attracts me to the program was the fact that it’s just, it’s a mindset shift. You never realize how big, you know, the mindset shift is, until you’re in this program, right? Because there is a lot of self-doubt that happens. You doubt your ability to even send out an application. You doubt your ability to even do the job, even when you’ve been doing it, right? You doubt your ability to even interview. And all this is in your brain because you’re telling yourself, I don’t think I can do it. I don’t think I have the mental, mental capacity to do it.

And this whole negative, reinforcing the negative patterns at certain point, because you keep thinking about it and you overthink it, it makes you, it makes you feel like you cannot do it. It makes it true. Yeah. Your thought becomes the result. Yeah. If you keep thinking it for long Yeah. And I also, now that I’ve been here and I’ve seen what I did before and what I’m facing now is that before I knew I could do it, even with less resources, I knew I could do it, right. And it got me somewhere. And at this moment, before I joined Natalie’s program, I felt like, okay, I can do it.

Even when I’ve done, you know. Yeah. Even without, because back then you had no evidence that you could do it. You just chose to believe it and then you did it. And you did all the actions in between. Even now that I had done it, I still couldn’t believe that I could do it. I don’t know. My brain was playing all these tricks on me. Like you can’t do it. You were just lucky then, you know. Yeah. It’s all that safety mechanism that kicks in. It’s like, no, no, no. Stay safe. Stay safe. Right. Stay safe. You don’t want to get out and get hurt again. Right. And then you, then you end up in that constant cycle of, you don’t want to try. You’re scared of hurting yourself. And you just want to keep yourself to this bubble. And you kind of think. And then missed opportunities. And they don’t actually. And then you have to put in the work. Yeah.Right. You have to put in the work. So I got to a certain point and I was very stressed about it.

And I’m like, you know what? You need help. You need someone to work with you on this journey. You need someone to constantly remind you of how good you are. Someone who sees your potential when you cannot be able to say it. I know it sounds weird, but you know. No, it doesn’t sound weird at all. I think we all need that. I think we could all benefit from that because it’s true. Our brains are just going to brain. It’s going to do what it’s going to do. And like, while you’re learning to get control of it, because this is what my program is going to teach you and what you’re learning already is you can use somebody else’s belief and you can use the support around you. But ultimately, you are building that for yourself.

You’re building that capacity to believe in yourself more, to believe in yourself for bigger, to believe in yourself for the next steps that you want to take. And that’s a capacity that you actively work on building. And it can be fast tracked when you’re in a container that will help you do that every day. Yes. So yes, I signed up for the class. I couldn’t believe I signed up late, but we eventually got there. And I like the style because it’s a few. We’re not so many, so we get to have your attention and everybody gets to be coached and everybody gets to learn from the other. And we get to celebrate the wins, you know, and when you see your colleagues winning, it also, it impacts on you.

It also elevates your mood that, OK, it is possible for me too, because if he or she previously was saying this was their challenge and now they’re telling me that they, you know, they’ve got in this role, that they’re getting the six figures, that things are getting better for them, it means it can also get better for me. Yeah. So it’s encouraging to be in these sessions.

Honestly, it’s encouraging because it’s already it’s difficult in our everyday lives. And also to think about your job security can even get more daunting. So having this village, your people, your tribe, where, you know, you come, you discuss your challenges, where there is no judgment. It’s really amazing. It’s amazing. I’m so glad.

I’m so glad you’re a part of it. And it’s so true. And it’s like, one thing I always remembered was, if you want to be good at tennis, you’ve got to play with someone who’s better than you or who’s doing better than you, who’s striving to be better than you. And in the room where we are at, it’s like everybody is doing is raising themselves to the next level. Right. They’re thinking at a higher level.

They’re doing they’re challenging themselves. And that’s not something that we see just the average person doing because they don’t know how they need some support. So it’s great. Yeah. I mean, smart decisions all around to be able to put yourself in a place like that as soon as you knew that you needed to. And that’s why your success will be much faster because you pointed that out for yourself right from the beginning.

Amazing. Okay. So I want to ask you one more question or what advice would you have for someone who is kind of in the beginning where you were with no evidence that they can create this, like any tips for believing and getting yourself to believe that you can get there? Yes, because you can, because when I look at my journey, I felt like I was for some reason, I felt like I was very I was that I had had gotten the short end of the stick.

Honestly, I felt like my situation was so bad that nobody really wanted to hire me. And it took a toll on my self esteem. I felt like why was I not getting the jobs? Why was I not even getting an internship? And I felt like I was really in a bad place where nobody would choose me. And what I did was I felt like it was very important to choose myself. And to fight for myself. Yeah, there we go.

To show that I was capable, to show that I was worth being in these spaces. So one tip I would give is that believe in yourself. I know it’s cliche, you know, but at a moment whereby everybody you’re trying to get a chance at something, you’re trying to get a job, you’re trying, you’re beginning and nothing seems to be working out, is that you also need to take a chance on yourself and believe in yourself and be crazy.

Like what you said, choose yourself first. And it’s so aligned with everything I’ve learned about personal development. It’s basically saying, you know, the world isn’t going to give you what you haven’t decided that you deserve and that you give to yourself. Basically, you’re saying I’m doing what it takes to give this to myself. I’m choosing myself. However, we want to say that that has to happen from within before it can be reflected on the outside.

Yes, because I will share just a little bit of experience. When I was in Uganda, I had nothing to lose at that point. Because when you’re searching, you have nothing to lose. And the worst that can happen is if someone says no, and that’s OK. You can always, you know, dust yourself up, you know, get back on your feet and keep going. Because for me, I do believe that the more you go, the more you try, there’ll be something for you.

There will be definitely something for you. It may not come immediately, but eventually it does come. And also, I think it’s part of like the self-image part of like how you see yourself, because in order for you to achieve this, you had to see yourself as, you know, worthy, deserving as a baseline, and then also up for the challenge, right? You had to believe you’d be able to deliver, you’d be able to figure it out when you got there, you’d be able to, like you had to first believe, like the baseline is I deserve this, I’m worthy.

And then that I can succeed when I get there, right? You have to believe all these things and see yourself in this way, right? So you did all that. And that’s what kind of led you to all the actions that you took, which was to research all these cover letters, stay up at midnight and get the information, then the sessions you needed, consume all the stuff you needed to consume, start putting, like putting good stuff into your brain. So then the good stuff could start to come out, and then you can start to see the results.

So yeah, and there’s so many components of the success that come together, right? And you know, that’s something very, I know people talk about manifestation a lot, which is a good thought process. You know, it helps to reinforce, you know, the belief in yourself. Also, when you, it helps make up for those times when you really, when your soul or your mind is really down.

I remember when I was in Korea in August 2021, I wrote this email to myself saying, Dear Immaculate, we are pleased to inform you that the position you applied for, that you received it. So I put myself in that position that I was going to get what I want, what I’m looking for eventually. And I kept telling myself, even when we were in school, I kept telling my colleagues, I’m like, I’ll get there.

I didn’t know how I was going to get there, honestly. Yeah, of course, nobody knows how. It’s a myth that we know how before we get there. Exactly. And honestly, it was a trend I hopped on because there was a time when manifestation was like, really a trend. And I thought I was very crazy to do it. But I was like, you know what, it’s a trend. Let me hop on it, right? No, it really works. Yeah.

I think that the distinguishing part is like, is the feeling, right? It’s when you wrote that, and you saw that, or you did, it made you lock in a feeling of like, it’s done, I have this, I’m getting excited, like I did it, right. And that feeling continuously over time is what helps you to take the right actions and create. So that was August 21st, 2021, right? So I told myself, you know what, you’ve received it, you know, next year.

And I was like, just playing around, you know, playing around, playing around with these things and telling myself, oh, you know what, you’ll be in New York, even when I couldn’t, a lot of me was like, you know, I don’t think that is, you know, it’s a thing. But eventually, and I think on the 7th of July, 2023, 2022, I received the email, finally. The email that you wrote to yourself that you knew was coming, yeah. Yeah, it was just a month before it came true. So yeah, I think you need to be crazy enough. Believe in yourself.

Yeah, you need to do that again for your next one. And I think the key is, is that what we can showcase to people listening is you don’t have to believe 100% all the time, because you talked about how you had very normal doubts and very normal fears and very normal, ups and downs throughout the process. But like, at your core, you knew, I’m doing this, I’ve decided, right? Like, it was a decision, you locked it in, you talked about different ways that you locked it in.

But of course, there was still going to be some doubt and fear along the way, you just managed it. You didn’t let it take over. And just, you didn’t let it become your fate. You let your belief, like your belief was just stronger than the doubt and fear. The belief won. Yeah, I always tell myself, I’m like, whatever happens, we have this thing, it’s in Swahili, says, like, come what may, come rain, shine. I’m pushing this mountain. I don’t care. It has to move for me.

So I don’t care what I have to do. Yeah, there’s so many good components of what you’re saying here, because I resonate with so much of this doing my own goals, right? It’s like, you got to stay open, you don’t want to be super attached to each thing. You want to do the things that, you know, move you forward, but also while being in belief, but also while knowing doubt and fear is normal.

Like all these things, it’s like a recipe for success. But I’m so glad you shared. I’m so glad that you were able to come on and be an inspiration. You’re such a wise, a wise young woman. Thank you so much. No, really, just lastly, just keep trying, just keep working at it.

It’s difficult, really. You’ll find yourself sometimes with tears on your pillow, you know, crying, saying, okay, why is this not working for me? Why is it taking long? But, and I think it does prepare you for the bigger things, because I don’t think if I wasn’t strong from my experience, you know, searching, I would have been able to maintain my job, because it’s quite demanding and quite hectic. And I think it helped me build the personality that I needed to stay.

Yeah, absolutely. You built a lot of capacity just in achieving this first milestone. Mentally. Yeah. Yes. It helps you build that mental capacity. Even when, and I learned to see that when sometimes when you apply for something and you don’t get it, then it’s, maybe it wasn’t good for you. Yeah. And I mean, it didn’t mean anything about your capability. It didn’t mean that you couldn’t do it. It means you weren’t supposed to be in that space at that moment. Your spaces where you would never be somewhere else again. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah.

Well, thank you so much. Yeah. I can’t even. Thank you for having me. Inspiring that was to hear. Yes. Thank you so much. All right. Thank you. All right. Thank you.
